Peace on Earth,
Healing from the Ground Up
by Jennifer Joe
The holidays are a time when the theme of “Peace on Earth” seems to be a mainstream mantra, on the minds, hearts and action of many, while only on the lips of some. How do we nurture, cross-pollinate, and expand upon, what I've been calling, a “sustainable peace” from the ground up? Are there any seed to table connections here? These were a few of the questions that I asked myself while participating in the 18th Annual Pioneers Conference, a dynamic weekend filled with inspiring, thought-provoking speakers, programs and opportunities to connect with a diversity of people, involved with preserving and supporting the future of life on Earth. Part of the Pioneers' mission is to seek to unite nature, culture and spirit in an Earth-honoring vision, and create economic models founded in social justice, as seen by the many practical solutions and social innovations for people and planet growing via the Pioneers' community. True to the heart of their cautionary culture they offer “a rich array of diverse approaches that are effective and grounded in practice”, as noted by cofounder Kenny Ausubel and Nina Simons. Many shared their stories, of the great difference one person's actions can make; especially when in partnership with nature. |

“Veterans are the light at the tip of the candle, illuminating the way for the whole nation. If veterans can achieve awareness, transformation, understanding, and peace, they can share with the rest of society the realities of war. And they can teach us how to make peace with ourselves and each other, so we never have to use violence to resolve
conflicts again”

MATRIX ENERGETICS
Expectations Can Limit You
by Dr. Richard Bartlett
In order to deal with and meet the challenge of people's expectations, I tell them that an experience with Matrix Energetics can mean everything or can mean nothing: no thing ! If you observe what I am doing as evidence that a particular thing has occurred, this in turn implies that by the power of your consciousness, your observation of one specific outcome, you may in turn limit the expression of all other possible desirable outcomes from the same experience. The act of choosing, as they say in quantum physics, collapses all the other probable occurrences into the one event or result that is consciously chosen.

Sierra Club Calls for Action on Global Warming
by David S. Cohen
Environmental group urges petitioning and lobbying of Congressional representatives and senators to rally support for solar energy and renewables, coupled with stricter CAFE (fuel emission) standards for all gas-burning vehicle.
The Sierra Club is spearheading a citizen petition drive and lobbying effort to lend support to those in Congress who are ready now to draft and pass legislation that will make a meaningful contribution to the effort to reverse climate change, before the end of the Bush Administration, which by any standards but those of Big Oil has been the worst administration possible where matters related to energy policy are concerned.

E-MAILABILIA
A Mother of a Different Stripe
In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birthto a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, because of complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and died shortly after birth. After recovering from the delivery, the mother tiger's health suddenly declined, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could adopt another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve. After checking with many other zoos across the country, the sad news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother.
The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been attempted in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only orphans” that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs.
The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops?

The Voice said, "Turn around, go back into the fire"
A personal account of surviving the witch fire in Firestorm 2007 in Southern California
By Tiffany Snow
Before we went to bed Sunday night, my husband Billy and I looked at the latest fire information, said our prayers, and felt safe. We always said special prayers for our land, and the other 2 families here, and for guidance, protection and direction in all things. What came to be known as the "witch fire" was miles and miles away near Ramona, and there was no information given about evacuating Highland Valley road. Within a few hours we would be asked to trust our lives to that voice in the midst of a firestorm of flame and cinders, surrounded with no open roads or discernable way out.
