I Wept Today

I wept for Terri Schiavo's husband and his old fashioned belief in the sanctity of marriage. The part about “love, honor and obey till death do they part”, and his refusal to divorce her seem to mean something to him. He could have walked away from the issues in her time of need like so many others, Newt, Rush, and many more. He chose to stay and do his best as a husband for her and honor his commitment. I am sure it has not been easy to fulfill his marital duty but that is what he promised her and God and the whole world, (just as I did 37 years ago to my love). Silly, naive, greedy man...

I wept for Terri Schiavo's parents who can not seem to let go and move on. They lost their daughter 15 years ago and continue to suffer each and every day.  The pain must be mind numbing. Too bad they can't accept that their daughter and her husband were a team and that those vows they took said, “she and he would cleave together and that she shall leave her parents house and dwell with her husband till the end of their days”  were not empty words to the Schiavo's. It is sad that they can't let go but then they are getting a lot of outside pressure to hold on.

I wept for all those who profess a belief in an all powerful all seeing and all present God and then they try to thwart God's efforts to call Terri home. I wept that this is a test of all of our faiths in God's power over life and death and that there are those who think they know better than God.

I wept for a Nation who has drifted so far from its origins. The whole reason for the nation at all seems lost as we drift closer to being what we detested in the Soviet Union. We don't seem to care nor even know it is happening.

I wept for all the people who have it within themselves to prolong Terri's torture for their own political end. How cruel their hearts must be to not consider her feelings, the law, moral imperatives, ethical considerations and the will of God to take Terri or not.

If it is left to God to decide, he may just wake her up and she will be fine. Otherwise, He wants her back and mankind keeps talking about it like its up to them. How sad for those professing such faith to not trust in God to make the correct decision. Let go, let God.

I wept for Terri Schiavo as she may have been screaming silently for the last 15 years  LET ME GO!!
