GreenBuilt Tour Highlights Sustainable Building Methods

On Saturday and Sunday September 16–17, San Diego EarthWorks will host its fifth annual GreenBuilt Tour, a self-guided tour of San Diego homes and businesses that feature sustainable building practices, including ecologically sound, renewable construction components and technologies, water- and energy-efficiency features, and the innovative use of recycled and re-used materials. These structures, both new construction and rebuilds or retrofits, demonstrate that energy and resource-efficient design and construction are the right way to build.

Do you have a residential or commercial site that illustrates sustainable building methods, alternative energy use, zeriscaping, or any other “green” architecture or construction techniques? If so, your site may qualify to be part of the GreenBuilt tour.

There is no charge to have the site on the tour. However, all sites must be staffed with knowledgeable individuals who will describe the features and building techniques to tour participants.

To find out about having a site added to the tour, or about sponsorship or advertising opportunities, please contact EarthWorks at (858) 272-7370 as soon as possible. Further information is available at www.EarthDayWeb.org .

Drug Industry Critics Examine Influence of Marketing Tactics in Hard-hitting Documentary

LOS ANGELES, CA – Medical experts and pharmaceutical critics expose the drug industry's unsafe tactics that are affecting today's health care system in the timely documentary, Money Talks: Profits Before Patient Safety , which is now available on DVD. The film explores drug industry influence on various levels through interviews with key opinion leaders from Harvard, Columbia, UCLA and more.

This is Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau's second film about the issues within the pharmaceutical industry. Her debut film, Side Effects , was a fictional approach to exposing the issues, based on her decade working as a drug sales rep for two of the nation's top pharmaceutical companies. Because of the overwhelming response from people all over the world, Slattery-Moschkau felt there was a need to leave Hollywood behind and present a more informational, academic approach to the topic.

Side Effects generated such an outstanding dialogue on the issues of drug promotion and ethics that we felt compelled to go to the experts,” said Slattery-Moschkau. “ Money Talks is the straight-shooting answer to a lot of the questions that consumers need to know.”

In Money Talks, Alex Sugarman-Brozan, JD, of Prescription Access Litigation shares sweeping statistics about the pharmaceutical industry's marketing force. He cites that there are over 80,000 pharmaceutical sales reps employed in the U.S. alone, or one for every four doctors.

Dr. John Abramson, author of Overdo$ed America , explains how the pharmaceutical companies are taking us away from evidence-based medicine. He shares eye-opening information about how the Federal Drug Administration and the New England Journal of Medicine , as well as other respected organizations, are no longer trusted sources for unbiased information on prescription drugs.

Other featured interviews include Dr. Bob Goodman of Columbia University, who founded the program No Free Lunch, and Dr. Jerome Hoffman of UCLA Medical School.

Medical and Holistic Communities Applaud Side Effects

LOS ANGELES, CA – Based on filmmaker Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau's decade of experience working as a drug sales rep, Side Effects examines the pill-pushing tactics of the pharmaceutical industry's leading companies. Side Effects has conscientious consumers around the world thinking twice about popping their next pill.

For those who missed the storm of buzz during its rolling theatrical release, the DVD of Side Effects is now available online at www.sideeffectsthemovie.com and www.Amazon.com , and is being sold at major retail outlets across the United States.

Side Effects tackles these issues head-on and does it with remarkable candor, humor, and balance.”– Tony Cecala, The Holistic Networker

“The film will serve as an eye opener for doctors and patients alike.”– Stephanie Lysaught,– The Yogi Times

“The action goes from amusing to savagely funny.”– Jeanne Lenzer, British Medical Journal

“Drop-dead fascinating.”– Deborah Ray, Healthy Talk Radio

True to her position since the beginning, Slattery-Mosckau continues to take a reasoned approach to the issues surrounding the drug industry.

“We need to acknowledge that we need prescription medications, but understand that the current system is broken—these are the first steps toward progress,” says Slattery-Moschkau.
