Creativity is released with Sun in Leo
On July 22, the sun entered Leo, a fixed fire sign that inspires creativity. While the sun is in Leo, we desire to play more, have fun, and to express our creative potential. People with the sun in Leo, and also those with the moon or rising sign in Leo, are dynamic, bold, highly creative people with a stubborn streak you do not want to get in the way of! Fiercely protective of those they love, many Leo's are know in their communities and families to have a heart of gold. And they do, but do not underestimate their power. Leo's are here to create, and through their expression of their creativity, to come to know themselves. At the core of a Leo lifetime is the need and desire to know the Self.
Solar Eclipse brings core changes in our self-expression
The month of August starts with a bang (well, a symbolic one). We have a partial solar eclipse in Leo at the new moon on August 1. As many of my readers know, eclipses bring changes; sometimes big ones. Because this is less than a total eclipse, for most of us the changes may be more subtle, but will strongly affect anyone born between July 28-Aug. 5 and anyone with the moon, rising sign or chart angle between 5-13 degrees of Leo (check with your astrologer). We will all experience this eclipse as bringing subtle, or not-so subtle changes into our lives in terms of the way we express ourselves to our world. In addition to questioning our purpose, we may be looking more deeply at the core message, or the meaning behind our ways of self-expression.
Planetary aspects bring refinement of our daily affairs
On August 6, we may find that our communications are heightened with greater spiritual vision and that our business or career plans go through a course-correction or adaptation to our higher understanding. This is all part of the important changes we are experiencing, and is meant to help us gain greater alignment with our purpose. On August 13 and 15, Venus and Mercury, respectively, conjoin the great taskmaster and “karmic timekeeper”, Saturn in Virgo, for a quick, but in depth look at how we are doing at integrating our higher spiritual understanding with how we are living our daily lives, how we are communicating, relating and conducting our business affairs. This inner scrutiny is designed to produce clarity, guiding us to more effective and productive living.
Lunar eclipse poses the tough questions
We have a lunar eclipse at the full moon in Aquarius on August 16. It is common to have two eclipses in one month; they come in pairs. A solar eclipse brings changes at the heart and soul of a matter, and a lunar eclipse brings changes in the outer form of our lives. At the lunar eclipse, the sun is in Leo and the moon is opposite in Aquarius, but also conjoined with Neptune, which changes the picture considerably.
This eclipse leads us to find the places in our lives where we are either in, or out of, alignment with our Higher Selves, and therefore, our purpose. It prompts us to delve deeply to touch the dream in our Soul. It asks: What is our life truly calling for? What will be both the most fulfilling for us, and the most positive contribution we can make to our brothers and sisters on this small planet at this crucial time in our evolution? Tough question; it is time to answer it.
Virgo brings refinement of purpose
On August 22, the sun completes its journey through the self-discovery process of Leo. We then enter the sign of the Virgin, the earthy, feminine and mutable sign of Virgo. While the sun is in Virgo through the remainder of August and the majority of September, the creative vision and new insights born in Leo come to the testing ground. We find what works, we adjust what doesn't. Virgo brings refinement; embrace it, for it is a necessary part of human development, and enjoy the waning weeks of the summer season.

While there are no excellent days this month, there are several very good ones: (for PDT), they are: Aug 10, 11, 12 & 13. The following days may not be as easy, but are also good: August 19 & 20, and August 26-31. Use the very good days to further important projects, businesses, and relationships, and avoid making any new starts on the remaining days. To create brand new starts, it is best to only consider: August 20, 27-28 and 30-31.
Aries- The August 1 solar eclipse stimulates your creativity, opening the way for more playful interaction with your children and your art. Work responsibilities are pressing, but you also need the freedom to travel or engage in spiritually uplifting pursuits; use your creativity to make this happen. The mid-month lunar eclipse brings surprising new interactions with friends and groups.
Taurus – Changes in your home life are stimulated by the August 1 solar eclipse; trust in the ultimate goodness of the universe and go with it. Financial challenges stimulate creative solutions; if you seek, you will find them.
