Larisa & Shakti Tribe Concert 8/8
Larisa Stow wants you to open your heart. She wants you to dig deep and feel the love that exists within and all around you. And then she wants you to join her in singing the names of divine love and spirit.
Larisa Stow emerged onto the pop-rock music scene in the late nineties, her engaging style of mixing spiritually inspired lyrics with catchy melodies and pop grooves quickly earned her the Los Angeles Music Award's “Singer/Songwriter of the Year”. At that time Larisa was teaching yoga, filling her classes with the songs of Krishna Das and Bhagavan Das. Larisa then became an apprentice to mantra expert Thomas Ashley-Farrand (“Healing Mantras”) that led her to begin exploring her own authentic voice with kirtan (devotional call-and-response music) and chant music. She found that through singing the names of God a new passion to express herself through music appeared. Larisa soon reconnected musically with several of her band members from the pop-rock days along with a few new souls and her “band family,” as she calls them, was born. They create and perform music now as Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe. Larisa and the band's live performance is a dynamic blend of East meets West. They mix the spiritual and sacred with a pop sensibility, sensuality and rock groove like no other.
On Sat, Aug 8, Larisa & Shakti Tribe will be at Seaside Church for a special concert produced and hosted by InnerNet Events. They will be co-billing the night with the all-star world beat Hani Naser Band whose band mates include Craig Eastman who performs with Steve Martin & Sheryl Crow, Marc Mann from ELO and tours with Eric Clapton, Walfredo Reyes Jr. who tours with Steve Windwood and has played with Santana and Hani Naser himself who tours with the legendary Jackson Browne and David Lindley. There will be an hour of Divine Dining from 6:30-7:30pm, and the concert begins at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at Soulscape Books & Gifts or by ordering online at www.InnernetEvents.com . Proceeds from the night will benefit the Shakti Tribe Foundation, a non-profit formed by the band to help support their peace program work in jails, prisons and juvenile facilities. The Shakti Tribe Foundation is a program of International Humanities Center.
