Visit Behind the Scenes of ‘The Celestine Prophecy' on Dec. 7
It has been almost ten years since James Redfield's book, The Celestine Prophecy, hit the New York Times bestsellers list. This phenomenal novel was on the bestsellers list for over 3 years…and for good reason. The Celestine Prophecy has fast-paced action and philosophical insight and it's not often someone can seamlessly combine those two elements into a story, but James Redfield does it masterfully.
The Celestine Prophecy is now being made into a movie and on Wednesday, December 7 the Learning Annex has a first look as James Redfield and Salle Merrill Redfield take you behind the scenes. During this exclusive evening, James and Salle (authors of The Celestine Meditations ) will chronicle the journey of The Celestine Prophecy from self-published novel to global bestseller and now major motion picture. You'll get to see behind the scenes pictures and artwork from the film…plus, a never-before-seen trailer for the film.
James and Salle will also discuss The Celestine Insights , which can help anyone cultivate their intuition and synchronistic flow. Learn the key steps to living a deeper, more intuitive spiritual awareness. The Celestine Insights can change your life. General Seating for this class is $29.99. Golden Circle Seating is also available for $59.99. Visit www.learningannex.com. |

Chinese Medicine Supports World AIDS Day Dec. 1
While World AIDS Day fuels awareness of the disease and the medical advances made toward finding a cure, AIDS and HIV have been well-known conditions since storming onto the public stage in the early 1980s. Though there is still no known cure for AIDS, holistic therapies such as Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture may offer relief for the more than 10 million people in the United States who are HIV positive or living with AIDS.
By stimulating key pathways in the body called meridians, acupuncture releases endorphins in the brain. These endorphins have been shown to reduce pain and calm the body which can enhance its natural defense system. Acupuncture also raises the amount of white blood cells, T-cells and anti-bodies in the body which increase the body's level of immunity - a very important benefit for those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are nontoxic and have no side effects when prescribed by a licensed acupuncturist or herbalist.
Many HIV/AIDS patients have reported a general increase in health and well-being due to acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture has been cited by the World Health Organization to treat over 43 conditions, many of which are also symptoms of AIDS. These include abnormal sweating, muscle weakness, diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue. The Oriental Medical Center verified this in a study of 103 adults with HIV or AIDS who were treated solely with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. After receiving several treatments, 66 percent of the 103 adults who participated in this study showed marked improvement.

Santa vs Snowman at IMax/Fleet Center through Jan. 1
Once in every generation, there's a holiday story that steals the hearts of millions, a classic for the whole family. There is a new holiday classic comin' to town - Santa vs. the Snowman, an animated IMAX film that has returned to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center through January 1! Tradition is turned on its head when an innocent and lovable Snowman discovers Santa's Village and reaches in the workshop window to pick up a shiny, new flute. He has only a second to admire the instrument, as the workshop's crackerjack security system kicks into gear, barring the windows and setting off warning lights and sirens.
The dazed Snowman flees, losing the flute in the process. As the poor Snowman returns wearily to his home, his mind is in a whirl. He cannot stop thinking about Santa and his wonderful workshop. It seems Santa has the perfect life —why, he thinks, should Santa keep all that love, good tidings and friendship for himself? That doesn't seem fair. Maybe it's time someone else gets to be Santa . . .
What ensues is an all-out, riotous battle for Christmas with the Snowman and his minions squaring off against Santa and his elf army for the rights to the worldwide gift delivery franchise of the jolly man in red.
The Snowman puts ‘Project: Blizzard' into action and the delivery of Christmas presents to children around the world is put into jeopardy as an all out North Pole style battle for control ensues. Of course in the end Santa and the Snowman become friends and that's all the Snowman really wanted anyway, a friend. It's truly what the holidays are all about with a modern twist!
Santa vs. the Snowman features the voices of Jonathan Winters, Ben Stein and Victoria Jackson. The film was created by Steve Oedekerk; the screenplay is by John A. Davis; and is produced by Paul Marshal, John A. Davis and Keith Alcorn. Santa vs. the Snowman is directed by John A. Davis and executive produced by Steve Oedekerk.
The Fleet is located at 1875 El Prado, two blocks south of the Zoo on Park Blvd. Admission to the Science Center and 1 IMAX film: Adults: $11.75, Seniors (65+): $9.75, Juniors (3-12): $8.75. Visit www.rhfleet.org or call 619-238-122 for showtimes and hours of operation.

Cast Selected for the movie
Conversations With God
The book, Conversations With God ,spent nearly 3 years on the New York Times bestseller list, and sold approximately 7 million copies in 34 languages, so it was no surprise to director/producer Stephen Simon (producer of Somewhere In Time, and What Dreams May Come) that hundreds of people from all over the world lined up last month at the open auditions for the upcoming film version of Conversations With God.
The book series that inspired millions will now become a film that tells the true and previously untold story of its author, Neale Donald Walsch. At the lowest point in his life, Walsch started asking God some hard questions. And to his astonishment, God answered. Those conversations became the basis for the book series. This film details the dramatic journey of a down and out homeless man who inadvertently becomes an unlikely and highly acclaimed bestselling author and spiritual messenger.“For the past ten years I have dreamed of making this movie,” says Simon. “Conversations With God will be a powerful, mystical, controversial and surprising film.”
Walsch says that Simon has “an extraordinarily high level of artistic integrity, vision and willingness to collaborate.” Because of this, he finally agreed to have the Conversations With God story told on the big screen.
The film will star Henry Czerny in the lead role of Neale. Czerny The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005), The Ice Storm (1997), Mission: Impossible (1996), Clear And Present Danger (1994) and the upcoming remake of The Pink Panther (2006), is a highly respected actor. Co-star Frances Fisher, The Last Tycoon (1976) has played many memorable roles including Kate Winslet's mother in Titanic (1997), and Julianne Moore's mother in Laws Of Attraction (2004). Ingrid Boulting, will play a pivotal role and mystical character in the film.
Script writer Eric DelaBarre won “Filmmaker of the Future” at the Newport Beach International Film Festival for Kate's Addiction (1999)and spent six years as a writer/director/producer on NBC's “Law & Order.”
The film will be shot and edited entirely in Oregon and premieres in Portland, October 19, 2006. The bulk of the 60-person crew is Oregon-based and several members of the prestigious Oregon Shakespeare Festival have been cast in the film.
Conversations With God is the first original film production of The Spiritual Cinema Circle which Simon co-founded in 2004 with author Gay Hendricks, who will Executive Produce the film. The Spiritual Cinema Circle is America's fastest growing DVD club. To learn more visit: www.spiritualcinemacircle.com.
The Circle is financing the project which will premiere in theatres and new-thought churches worldwide in late October 2006 and will be available on DVD exclusively to Circle subscribers in December 2006.
