Sun Signs For December 2005

Sun in Sagittarius ignites a search for life's meaning
The sun entered optimistic, inspirational and freedom-loving Sagittarius on November 21, where it will transit until the Winter Solstice on December 21. Following the deep, challenging and transformative waters of Scorpio, Sagittarius seeks meaning and understanding, gaining wisdom from the depths of Scorpio's self-analysis. Naturally jovial and fun loving, Sagittarians love to explore, travel, and find adventure in life's experiences. As the sun travels through Sagittarius, we are drawn to philosophy and finding spiritual meaning in life's journey.
New moon in Sagittarius brings inspiration and innovation
We have a new moon in Sagittarius on December 1, forming a grand triangle that brings practical grounding to our inspired ideas, opening pathways of creative expression in the world. Neptune adds a positive dose of spiritual inspiration, coloring our creative ideas with deep, contextual meaning and a sense of divinely inspired purpose. Innovative Uranus in Pisces joins Jupiter in expanding our sense of what is possible, and Mars adds the practical attunement necessary for manifestation.
After months of hindrance, many activities move forward
As the planet of dynamic action, Mars, has recently been stifled in Taurus with a necessary reevaluation of objectives, most of us have experienced some degree of frustration in getting our goals met over the past two months. Adding to the experience of delay has been Mercury, moving retrograde (apparent backwards motion) since November 13. In early December, these two planetary energies shift, as Mercury; followed by Mars both resume forward motion, on December 3 and 9, respectively. With Mercury now moving freely forward in Sagittarius, plans and future goals can begin to take shape.
Full moon highlights coming social changes
The full moon in Gemini on December 15 highlights the social milieu in which significant changes will occur in the coming few months. Many have experienced a rather extreme sense of pressure since early October, and much in our lives has needed to be reviewed. This has created an adjustment of values, beliefs, desires, and social conscience that led to deeper consideration before acting, which can potentially engender more wisdom in our choices. The full moon illuminates the deeply challenging and transformative potential of our times. Friendships and love relationships take on new meaning as their value is seen in an entirely new light.
Jupiter and Saturn face-off on values and purpose
The planets involved in shaping and reflecting the social elements of our current time, Jupiter and Saturn have, along with Mars, been in a challenging aspect which continues through December and January. The resulting crisis is one of discovering right values and aligning various objectives with wisdom toward some cohesive purpose. To a great extent, this refinement continues through most of the last six months of 2006, putting pressure on our social systems to discover meaningful values and transform their way of operating.
Winter Solstice bring potential inner stillness
The sun enters Capricorn at the Winter Solstice on December 21, and in the Northern hemisphere we experience the shortest day, or longest night, of the year. Symbolically, this represents the inward movement of consciousness, and presents a potential time for inner stillness and meditation which few in our modern culture partake of, but which can nevertheless be most fulfilling and instructive. It would particularly behoove us to take advantage of this still point in time, as the planet of love, comfort, and beauty, Venus, turns retrograde in Aquarius on December 24.
Retrograde Venus brings review and refinement of relationships
For the remainder of December, Venus retrograde launches us into a deep reassessment of our relationships, of love and what love really means to us, and of how we socially express our common humanity. The dichotomy between personal desires and interpersonal, or transpersonal concern for others is exaggerated at the†“blue moon” (a third lunation in a given month) on December 30. This then becomes the theme as we enter the New Year; the refinement of human love and personal relationships. The new moon in Capricorn plants a seed for positive action, paving the way for regeneration of positive and productive activity in 2006.
