Another Place, Another Time
The Reincarnation of Crazy Horse

A down-to-earth Australian businesswoman with a quick sense of humor, Coral Montana was about to discover some deep secrets about herself.

“My spirit guide Maryanne first made herself directly known to me about four years ago,” she tells us. “At first I thought that she could only help me out in the short term: tell me where I had put things I had misplaced, remind me of things I had forgotten to do.... But as the months went on, she started telling me about things that were to happen in my future.... Things in my life started to work out as she had predicted, and I realized that she knew everything in my life chart.... Maryanne was the one who suggested the title for my book, Another Place, Another Time . She told me one day quite casually that in my past life as Crazy Horse, I promised my Lakota friends that I would return to them in another place, at another time—my exact words.”

Isn't that what you always imagined— that Crazy Horse would come back as an Australian woman? Coral explains that the idea of having reincarnated as Crazy Horse came naturally to her as she realized that moments in his life correlate exactly with moments she has relived in past life regression.

And then came the opportunity to travel to South Dakota with her son Scott (who had been Crazy Horse's father). There she met the spirit of Sitting Bull, her personal hero, and engaged in a conversation with Red Cloud that cleared up the issue of his betrayal of Crazy Horse.

Their journey, their discoveries and their encounters with a variety of Indian spirits form the fabric of an interesting story. Of particular interest are the insights into the history of the period in which Crazy Horse lived and the karmic implications of his actions for Coral's current life.

The book is a good read if you're into past lives. The author's sincerity is clear in the simplicity of the telling.

The Passive Solar House
Complete Guide to Heating & Cooling Your Home

Want to lessen you dependence on fossil fuels? In Southern California we have the “golden” opportunity to do that. With such a mild climate to begin with, we have a head start towards becoming more independent from the fossil fuel cycle. The author, who has built more than three hundred passive solar homes, states, “All houses are solar.” We already have a passive solar home, why not make it more efficient?

From the foundation to the roof, the book offers a technique for building homes that heat and cool themselves in a range of climates using ordinary building materials available anywhere and with methods familiar to all building contractors and many do-it-yourselfers.

Kachadorian lists the solar principles and plans that will help whether you are building a new home or need to know about sun rooms and insulation.

This book was originally published in 1997 and has been revised and includes a PC-compatible disk to help you analyze the efficiency of your solar house design and judge the solar potential of your current home or building site.

His book covers heating with fuels, wood, biomass, geothermal and the sun; and looks at getting started, the costs, maintenance, and environmental considerations. —S.H.

Don’t Drink the Punch
An Adventure in Tantra

Don't Drink the Punch takes you by the hand in sexually free Thailand and escorts you through India on a pilgrimage to discover some of the elements of tantric tradition.

In a story told with disarming frankness by a male protagonist, the reader is introduced to a variety of concepts and ceremonies basic to tantric practice.

The innocence of tone keeps the story fresh, alive, and a fun read. And what I really like is that the book honors the immense depth of tantric tradition.

Kudos to San Diego author Kamala Devi! A great gift for the emotionally adventurous spiritual seekers on your list.

The Big Blue Schoolhouse
A Revolutionary View of God, Man
and the Meaning of Life

Ever wondered what God was thinking when He created the universe, the earth and mankind? What could have been his plan, or was he just playing around? What's life about, anyway, and how come it's so friggin' complicated sometimes? Painful, even?

Richard Tomasulo says he never worried too much about those things, and though he did try out a few enlightenment courses in the ‘70s he never found one that grabbed him where it counted. But then... something started waking him up in the middle of the night and feeding him compelling insights, and he had no choice but to listen and take notes.
