Holiday of Lights Festival Open at Del Mar Fairgrounds through 1/4/09

Santa's helpers have been hard at work creating the 14th annual Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Kick off the holidays by touring this spectacular 1.5-mile, drive-through light show and get in the spirit of the season. Featuring more than 400 lighted, animated scenes, the Holiday of Lights is the largest animated drive-through attraction on the west coast. Light themes include: Candy Cane Lane, Toyland, San Diego County Fair, Treasures by the Lake, Del Mar Racetrack, the Twelve Days of Christmas, and Elves at Play.

Also, the elves at the Holiday of Lights are teaming up with Toys for Tots this holiday season for a special toy drive to be held Wednesday, December 10. Every vehicle donating a new, unwrapped toy will receive a $2 discount on admission. Now through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009. Sundays-Thursdays, 5:30-10pm, Fridays and Saturdays, 5:30-11pm. $14/car, up to 5 people, $19/car, 6 or more people, $49/bus. Benefit Concert Celebrates Peace

Come support of The Peace Alliance and its San Diego chapter, Americans For a Department Of Peace (AFDOP), and hear award-winning local musician, Joe Rathburn, on Thursday, December 4, 7-10pm. Other featured musicians include: Peter Bolland of The Coyote Problem, Cahill & Delene, John Foltz, Sandi Kimmell and James Lee Stanley. The musicians are donating their valuable time and talents in support of The Peace Alliance and AFDOP.

The evening will be filled with peace and purpose and will be held at Milano Coffee Company, The Promenade, 8685 Rio San Diego Drive, Suite B, San Diego. Admission: $15 at the door. Weekly ‘Less Stress Holiday' Classes

Feeling fretful and stressed out as the Holiday Season approaches? Can you still remember the running around and tenseness from last year? There is a better way to experience this time of year. VISION A Center For Spiritual Living is offering the “Less Stress Holiday Class.” This three week class begins on Thursday, December 4, 6:30-8:30pm. Eleanor Roosevelt Comes to Life in Performance at USD on 12/10

In a powerful blend of theater and history, Voices of Women presents an engaging reenactment of the historical day when Eleanor Roosevelt signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights before the United Nations General Assembly in December of 1948. Acclaimed actor Rosina Reynolds will bring Eleanor Roosevelt to life. Following her performance, a panel discussion will examine how far human rights have come in the past 60 years and what the future holds for their fuller implementation globally.

This Free event—in collaboration with the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice and other human rights groups—will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 7pm at the Joan B. Kroc Peace & Justice Theatre, 5998 Alcal· Park on the University of San Diego campus. Hidden Gifts: A Joyful Christmas Celebration 12/11 in Solana Beach

Grief Healing Workshop & Concert 12/17 in San Diego

‘Course In Miracles' Study Group

Rady Children's Hospital Toys

The 18th annual “San Diego Regional Law Enforcement Teddy Bear Drive”—hosted by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department—is underway. Local law enforcement agencies need your help to collect new stuffed animals and teddy bears for young patients at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. The goal is to collect more than 60,000 stuffed animals that will be delivered to the kids on December 9 at 9:30am. For more info visit: www.helpsdkids.org.
