The Dolphin being released on DVD Dec. 7; San Diegan Dick Weaver Writes Theme Song

On Dec 7, The Dolphin: Story of a Dreamer will be released on DVD by 20th Century Fox throughout North America. It’s a Full Release, which means that you’ll be able to find the movie not only on Amazon, but at Target, Barnes and Noble, Zellers, Toys R Us and almost all other major retailers. The Dolphin is also being released in Western Europe and will be available everywhere in Hi-Definition DVD and Blu-Ray.

The Dolphin was written my Sergio Bambaren, who was interviewed in TLC in December 2008. He was working on releasing the film to the North American audience then, so this has been a long journey and big accomplishment for him.

The Movie is based on the novel of the same name. A wild dolphin swam and surfed with Sergio for 3 days, which helped bring about a deep change in Sergio’s life. Friends encouraged Sergio to publish his personal journal about what the dolphin inspired within him. The journal became a novel that has now been translated into many languages throughout the world.

There is a fun, local connection to the movie too. The movie’s theme song was written by San Diego resident Dick Weaver.

Here is a short preview trailer including part of Dick’s song credited as, “Fly, Dreaming Dolphin, Fly,” and sung as “Fly, Daniel Dolphin, Fly” in the movie. See that at www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qb8IRFjzN4

Dick’s Pre-release CD, “A Place of Gathering,” includes the original version of the song that appears in the movie. It’s being put up on CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com) and will be available for download soon.

The movie is available at amazon.com, barnesandnobel.com, and at the movie site: www.thedolphin-movie.com (this site offers free downloadable posters and games as well).

Event to Bring Peace & End Child Sexploitation

1000 BreathsAn event will take place Dec. 31 with the high-minded goal of reaching a worldwide audience to elicit inner peace, and raise funds for a life-changing documentary to bring awareness to a tragic reality taking place on our own streets.

According to UNICEF, two children per minute are trafficked for sexual exploitation in the world. In 2003, the FBI identified the San Diego region as a “High Intensity Child Prostitution Area.” In San Diego and all over the country, teens are being recruited from local shopping malls, schools and the Internet to be manipulated or forced into prostitution.

So what can be done? For one, people can simply breathe. This according to Legacy Productions’ event planners, Jim Ellis and Jennifer Geronimo, who are producing the worldwide event, 1000 Breaths: A Unique Fundraising Event to End Child Sex Exploitation, on Dec. 31, in San Diego.

Their vision is that on New Year’s Eve Day at 11am, one thousand people (or more) will take part—via internet radio simulcast or in person at San Diego’s Scottish Rite Event Center—in a large-scale “breathwork” session.

The process lead by 20-year certified “breathwork facilitator” Ellis, along with a number of support personnel, is a stress management technique that has served millions across the globe dating back to its use as “pranayama” in ancient India.
