Sun in Sagittarius is optimistic, amidst sea of change
The sun entered the jovial, fire sign of Sagittarius on November 22, sparking a new season of intellectual and philosophical expansion. Following the deep, inner soul-searching plunge of Scorpio’s’ transformational angst, Sagittarius’ optimistic outlook is refreshing. Yet, the sun’s foray into Sagittarian domain happens amidst a sea of change ignited by two significant planetary events happening almost simultaneously, and sure to rock the boat of any well-meaning plans to simply have a good time.

Because humanity is entering a time of profound shifts and new awakening, deep, heart-and-soul questions resound loudly and ever more clearly this season while the sun transits Sagittarius. We have the impetus to find, and stand firmly rooted in our deepest truth. As the sun entered Sagittarius, it was followed on November 23 and 24, respectively, by Mercury retrograde and a Solar Eclipse. These two planetary events substantially influence our experiences for December. The apparent backward motion (retrograde) of Mercury in Sagittarius, from November 23 until December 13 takes us into a necessary review of our spiritual and philosophical beliefs, and may lead us into an examination of the precepts underlying everything we have ever been taught about life; its meaning and purpose. We begin the month of December with a philosophical review in full swing, and our energy is best applied to finding our current truth and completing existing projects and communications, rather than launching out with something new.
Solar Eclipse brought transformation
On November 24, a solar eclipse in Sagittarius brought significant changes of perspective that will form the basis for all of our new creation in the coming New Year. Changes in our beliefs are a necessary part of humanity’s current evolution. In this season of ripe potential, and even amidst the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season in much of the Western world, it is essential that we take time for inner reflection, question old beliefs, and re-envision our future plans. Concurrently, the late November solar eclipse ignited a process of inner review into our deeply held beliefs, the resolution to which must be found early in December, before the upcoming lunar eclipse catapults changes into our daily reality.
Full moon, Lunar Eclipse ignites substantial changes
The December 10 lunar eclipse in Gemini brings awareness about necessary changes that must be integrated into the fabric of our life. The energetic support is present for transformation of our lives, particularly in work and business. But, the lunar eclipse calls for such substantial changes, that we may find ourselves struggling with the implementation of such fundamental structural modifications. If you entertain it, resistance will simply bring frustration, and will jam up the energy that is currently available for upcoming new creation. Instead, use the dynamic energy of resistance, to gather momentum for your new creations.
Mid-December’s energies bring fresh ideas & creativity
The lunar eclipse aligns us with our new vision and circulates into our lives the people and groups who will be most aligned with our purpose. In early December, complete as many existing projects and outstanding communications as you can, because, following the December 10 eclipse, then Mercury’s return to direct motion on December 13, our attention will naturally turn to the inception of fresh ideas and new creative pursuits aligned with our truth. We will be infused with a new sense of purpose. Mid-to late December’s positive alignment of Saturn and Neptune inspires high, spiritual creativity in which to birth and implement new ideas.

On December 21, we have the Winter Solstice, which is the shortest day, and longest night, of the year. It is in this deep stillness that the vision for our new year has its inception. On December 24, we have a new moon in Capricorn, calling for radical changes and setting the energy for the coming four weeks of creative building and well-structured endeavors.
