Health Benefits of Wine & Chocolate

The San Diego Archaeological Center is pleased to announce Dr. Philip Goscienski for the Center's Second Saturday Visiting Scholar Lecture Series. Philosophers and poets have gushed over the benefits of wine for centuries and modern scientists are doing the same over chocolate. Wine, especially the red variety, has hundreds of ingredients that help to us ward off infection and heart disease. Chocolate really does have health benefits, but you need to know what kind of chocolate and how much is enough. This lecture is free for Center members; suggested donation for non-members is $5 and will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, 11am–1pm at San Diego Archaeological Center, 16666 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92027. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Annemarie Cox via email at acox@sandiegoarchaeology.org or by phone: 760/291-0370.

In Search of the Divine Feminine

Local painter, sonyArletta is again providing Southern California an opportunity to view her newest collection of critically acclaimed work. Each of her oil paintings gives the viewer an opportunity to examine the artist's journey into the unique beauty of women. sonyArletta uses thick brush strokes and vivid colors, accented by shadows, to lull the viewer into a sense of comfort and familiarity. This work is feminine and strong; illustrating what is truly beautiful about the female. Also featured will be a photo series entitled “Call for the Beautiful Ones.” This photo project captures women with a variety of shapes, sizes and colorings to reveal the beauty that is uniquely female.

This show is not about glorifying female physical properties, but how those physical properties are simply tools to define, reflect and illustrate the true beauty that lives beyond, beneath and unanchored by the physical characteristics of the feminine flesh. The show opens at California Center for the Arts, Escondido on Sunday, February 15, 2009, 3-6pm with refreshments and live musical inspiration. This is a free event. For more information call 760/703-3074 or send an email to sonyarletta@sa-creatives.com.

Whale & Dolphin Boat Trips 2/15

Come see the dolphins and migrating whales up close and personal. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to talk to a whale or dolphin, and what personal message they would have for you? Animal Communicator Laurie “Reyon” Anderson will translate their messages of healing, wisdom and empowerment as we view these beautiful cetaceans from a comfortable catamaran. Reyon has created these boat adventures as she follows in the footsteps of John Lily who said “the largest brains on this planet are in the ocean. Communication with the whales and dolphins is the greatest achievement the human race can aspire to.” These trips are a joy filled day for everyone as we explore the consciousness of the “Pod Mind”.

The boats leave out of Dana Point Harbor and the day begins at 1pm with a group meditation on the grass. Together we will set our intentions to connect with the whales and dolphins, and to receive their communications and healing energies. The boat will leave at 1:30pm and return about 4:30pm and seats just 22 people. The cost is $89 per person. To register for February 15 or March 7, or receive more information, contact Laurie Reyon at 619/271-9461 or send an email to Laurie at puddysplace@yahoo.com

Business Success Through Dream Yoga 2/26 & 3/1 in Encinitas

Diamond Mind Coaching hosts their powerful new intro workshop: Business Success Through Dream Yoga. When we fall asleep our dream body wakes up and we experience life through it. We may or may not remember our dreams; but during sleep our conscious mind's defenses fall away and we become more vulnerable to our subconscious fears. Dream yoga is a powerful mystical way to heal, reclaim our power and create success. It is more effective than traditional hypnosis therapy because we are the ones who take responsibility and control of our situation. No matter how solid our physical lives may appear to be, as we learn to change the sleeping dreams we become more skillful in changing our awakened dreams as well.

Beginners are welcome to both Workshops! Intro Workshop: February 26, 7-9pm, Indigo Village, 1054 2nd Street, Encinitas, CA, $20. Intensive Workshop: March 1, 4-9pm, La Jolla, CA, $140. Full time students, veterans and active military receive 50% discount. Contact Mila Kandibur for more info and to register at: www.DiamondMindCoaching.com or call 858/492-8626.
