Accomplishing Your New Year's Resolution
By Grace Tayama
With the year starting off full swing, the subject of New Year's resolutions is often a common topic. Are you dreading these conversations ? Or are you telling people what you plan to do, yet secretly thinking,, “Why bother to make resolutions? I just break them every year?” For those who find themselves in these situations, here are some tips for tackling 2005's resolutions that will really increase your chances of successful results!
Just pick ONE resolution
One of the surest ways of setting yourself up for failure is by making the New Year's resolution list too long. This often leads to the chaos of a million started projects, all about 10% completed. Choose one resolution that is truly meaningful. Ask yourself why this goal is important to you, and what it would do for your life if the goal were achieved. Don't choose something that you know you don't want to do.

CBS, NBC: Church's Tollerance too Controversial
By Pastor Scott Landis
A few weeks ago the United Church of Christ, a progressive Protestant denomination, began its new identity campaign—“God is Still Speaking.” The crux of the campaign is a series of commercials, the first of which features a pair of “bouncers,” who determine which persons are fit to enter into what appears to be a quite traditional service of worship. Several are turned away including a teenager, a gay couple, and a person of color. The closing caption states, “Jesus never turned people away . . . neither do we—the United Church of Christ. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.”

Being Here, Body Centered Spirituality for 2005
by John Maxwell Taylor
The best bumper sticker I ever saw was on the back of a car in Nashville of all places. It said, “Honk if you know you don't exist!” If there is “no out there out there,” and the apparent reality of matter, bubbling on the surface of the quantum soup is a n illusion, we might do well to ask ourselves, “is there anyone in here in here ?”
When we say, “I,” in regard to ourselves, does the sound reverberate in the depths of our body with power and strength? Or does it emanate weakly from our heads as we surf the waves of our ever changing sense of self-identity? Can we balance our spirits in our bodies at will, to serve as human transformers through which a continuous healing presence can flow into the world? Has our spiritual seeking made us whole?

US Economy: Slow Down! Danger Ahead
By Richard Martin
My intention is to help and guide you through (and away from) the minefield of investment snares likely to be recommended by the financial services industry over the coming few years, as the world economy slows down. My main focus is on safeguarding your wealth, helping you to avoid losing money rather than advising you on how to expand your financial assets, although the one may not necessarily be incompatible with the other. First, however, I would like to paint the backdrop to the problem, as I see it.
