Sun Signs For January 2006
By Carolina Eastwood
Capricorn brings leadership that serves humanity
The sun entered Capricorn on December 21, initiating, in the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice, which represents the inward movement of consciousness and offers a potential time for stillness, reflection and meditation. While the sun is in Capricorn, we get a broad view of our lives, and become aware of the mechanisms and processes operating in our society, for good or bad. People born with the sun, moon, or rising sign in Capricorn tend to be the administrators among us who can give shape and direction to our creations. When it proceeds from insight, integrity and wisdom, the vision and leadership offered by Capricorn can serve humanity beautifully.
A new reassessment & refinement of relationships
Venus, the planet of love, financial ease, art and beauty, turned retrograde (apparent backwards motion) in Aquarius on December 24, bringing a review and refinement of relationships. For the month of January, and until February 3, Venus retrograde inspires a deep reassessment of our relationships; we look deeply at what human love really means to us, and at how we socially express our common humanity. We will also question our relationship to money, and all of the values that guide our lives, looking once again, and perhaps choosing once again, what we truly value in the light of our present-day reality. The refinement of human love and personal relationships becomes one of the themes we will experience in 2006.
Year brings realignment to our goals & principles
On December 30, the new moon in Capricorn highlights the dichotomy between personal desires and interpersonal concern for others, bringing the potential for much future progress when values are aligned with spiritual principles. The New Year begins with a “Grand Cross” (four or more planets opposite each other and at right angles in the sky), which has actually been in effect since last November, with some aspects lasting until February 2006. Involving Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Neptune in the fixed signs of Scorpio, Leo, Taurus and Aquarius, respectively, this grand square has precipitated enormous tension, blocking or frustrating our attempts to move forward and be successfully productive. On the positive side, the configuration forces us to slow down and carefully consider our course of action. We must look deeply at the motivation fueling our present day activities in the light of long-term objectives, but also considering humanitarian ethics. In 2006, we will lay the foundation for much future progress to be made in social causes throughout the world.
Full moon brings restructuring of values and beliefs
On January 14, we have a full moon in Cancer, opposite the sun and Venus in Capricorn, bringing to light the restructuring of values and reexamination of beliefs that has resulted from the pressure of last November and December's planetary aspects. Several of these aspects continue, and reach an apex at the full moon, releasing the awareness that we can no longer function in the belief that we are somehow separate from each other. Businesses, socio-political systems, and relationships built on the fallacy of separation begin to crumble as the truth of our essential oneness grows stronger this year in the collective consciousness. When the planet of communications, Mercury, forms favorable aspects with Mars and Jupiter, and if we have done our required soul-searching, by mid-month we should have a clear picture of our current direction and objectives.
Aquarius brings vision and builds bridges through communication
On January 19, the sun enters the sign of the humanitarian, Aquarius, followed by Mercury on the 22. If a strong foundation was put in place while the sun was in Capricorn, the energy of Aquarius helps us to build the bridges of communication and connection necessary to create an infrastructure that supports our objectives and helps us reach our goals. Aquarius brings vision. It shows us the panorama of possibilities available to us if we use our creativity. A new moon in Aquarius on January 29, coupled with Chiron, Mercury and Neptune, brings our focus to humanitarian concerns. The challenge to humanity now and the question before us is, “how can we create a world economy and governmental system that is based on the principle of cooperation?” Remember the power of what one individual can do. Clear your own heart, mind and soul, so that you contain and express the love that you are, and one person at a time, our world is transformed.
