If You Get This E-mail Message from
a Friend, Look Closer—It’s a Scam

What follows is a letter that several friends of TLC have received. It’s a scam. The way it works is an e-mail will come from someone you know who is traveling in another country and is asking for help. Unfortunately because the money goes out of the country, local authorities and even the FBI say they can’t do anything about it. The money is lost. We know of people who have lost money and want to warn people. Best to check with your friend and let them know you received it so they can warn others.

Hi, Apologies for having to reach out to you like this, but I made a quick trip two days ago, to London, United Kingdom and had my bag stolen from me with my passport and credit cards in it. The embassy is willing to help by authorizing me to fly without my passport, I just have to pay for a ticket and settle Hotel bills.

Unfortunately, I can’t have access to funds without my credit card, I’ve made contact with my bank, but they need more time to come up with a new one. I was thinking of asking you to lend me some quick funds that I can give back as soon as I get in. I really need to be on the next available flight.

Become an Advocate for Foster Children in San Diego

When everyone is making New Year’s Resolutions, why not consider something that will last longer than a diet or a gym membership? This year, choose to change a child’s life. Voices for Children advocates for foster youth through a network of trained volunteers who are empowered by the court to become experts about their case children. By developing a one-on-one relationship with their appointed child they are able to understand their concerns and fears and—in many instances—they are the only stable and consistent adult presence in the life of a foster child. Much more than just a mentor, volunteers also make recommendations to the court on the best course of action for the child.

Voices for Children holds monthly info sessions for those interested in becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). The Big Bang Within You Jan. 12

On January 12 at 7pm, VISION kicks off its Wednesday Night Vision series with Dr. Fred Alan Wolf’s renowned film, The Secret of the Law of Attraction 1: The Big Bang Within You.
