Local Author Begins Wold Peace Tour

It doesn't have a peace sign painted on it. And it's not a beat-up VW van. It's a 24-foot Winnebago with all the comforts of home and has a website- www.yourpeace.com- posted on the side.

Author Viki Hurst calls it her “peacemobile,” and she's taking it across country this year to 92 cities in 180 days with a powerful message about personal responsibility for world peace, and her new book, Let It Begin With You. “My generation still has an important role to play in raising consciousness about world peace,” the baby boomer said, “and I'm taking that to heart.”

Hurst recently sold her tri-level La Costa golf course home, along with nearly everything she owned to take her book on the road. The author will visit about 100 cities in her updated, upscale peace van, wearing a line of peace beads designed especially for her tour. “It feels a little like the ‘60's.” Hurst reminisces. “Peace beads and passion about something you believe in.”

The six-month trek began in Carlsbad at Sacred Pathway Bookstore on May 15 and will end in Washington D. C where Hurst will deliver messages to the White House from people she meets on her travels. “I'll be carrying a notebook on my journey and asking people to fill it with their visions for peace,” said Hurst . “We can't go around complaining that our politicians don't have a vision for peace. We have to help them to craft that vision.”

Defending Democracy 2004, June 12

Concerns are arising from all sides about the upcoming election season. The voting public is feeling powerless. This has caused the Unitarian Universalist Church Service Committee to engage in a broad national effort to help people identify opportunities for election-related action. Working with the Unitarian Universalist Association, they are now working to “educate, motivate and mobilize their members and supporters” through a forum called “Defending Democracy 2004.”

With the intent on educating voters about their rights, registering new voters, creating and
circulating issue briefs that congregations and individuals may use, “Defending Democracy
2004” is aimed at helping participants educate themselves about discrete issues, engage
communities in preparing to take action that will help defend our democracy’s election process and engage young people. The purpose of the forum is to ensure that the November elections run smoothly, that every vote cast is counted and that the results are reliable.

The nonpartisan workshop/forum, offers a day packed with opportunities for people to educate themselves and gain tools to become mobilized to take appropriate and helpful citizen actions.

Weight Loss Results Without Dieting

The new Gross Out Diet introduces a highly endorsed, successful weight loss plan that does not include “dieting” or taking pills. The unique program uses the ONLY principles supported by the U.S. Government and universities for long-term, non-surgical weight loss success.

Obesity has become a national epidemic, affecting 65% of adults and also many children. Unfortunately, diets do not work for long-term weight loss. Diets only complicate matters for the individual while lowering self-esteem and creating life-time emotional instability.

The Gross Out Diet works by conditioning the mind to say “no” to food using photographs that cause a negative reaction to the very thought of overeating. If a person becomes disgusted with the thought of eating at the moment of their craving, the craving suddenly transforms into a successful “weight loss moment” for the individual. When practiced consistently, and correctly, the person begins to have a new mindset toward food and life in general, resulting in long-term, successful weight loss.

Studies by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force reveal that behavioral therapy, the basis for the Gross Out Diet, when combined with counseling is the most effective non-surgical method for losing weight and keeping it off.

With the Gross Out Diet counseling is offered by Cheryl Willis, who has trained over the past 25 years with Tony Robbins and Landmark Education. Having coached hundreds of people with the need for weight loss, Cheryl understands and can help resolve the underlying issues that cause a person to be out of control with their eating habits.

For information about the Gross Out Diet see www.grossoutdiet.com or contact Cheryl Willis at 1-858-776-2479, or by email at info@grossoutdiet.com
