The Colorful World
Songs from the Diné Heartland

One of Native America's greatest traditional singers, Jay Begaye is well known for the beauty of his songs and the stirring quality of his voice. The Colorful World is his fifth release through Canyon Records.

Recorded with special guests Anthony Wakeman (flute) and Darren Yazzie (acoustic guitar), this collection of vocal performances with drum accompaniment presents round dance music rich in the vibrant colors of Navajo culture.

Singer, songwriter, painter and sculptor, Begaye grew up on the reservation in Steamboat Canyon, Arizona, and at one time competed as a rodeo contestant! Several of his recordings have earned critical and popular acclaim, including nominations for top awards at Native American music festivals. He now applies himself full-time to pursuing his visual art and music, which readers with a heart drawn to the Red Path will enjoy tremendously.

Sanctuary

Blast-off! Aah, what an opening. And then… upbeat Gregorian. I knew I loved this album from the very first note.

Still, it's smooth. You glide around the floor to electronica, lean back and let the chanting flow.

Mystery and mysticism merge in heavenly rhythms. Devotional chants and profound passion… kyries and syncopation. Magna Canta has produced a masterpiece to elevate the mind and inspire the soul in this, their second album. Close your eyes and enjoy.

Rendezvous

Light, bright, jazzy, sexy—Parisian charm, sultry and jazzy all over. Rendezvous is a skillful mingling of French and English vocals delivered in a loungy European style.

With titles like “Es-Tu Sincère?.” “Jalousie,” “At Last” and “Can't Get Over You,” the lyrics evoke a mood of love and yearning with just a hint of the mystical.

This is cool relaxation music, easy on the ear and the soul. While most tracks are downtempo, the tempo lifts a little in some – hints of balmy summer afternoons fading into nighttime sensuality.

LornaLee's gently sensual voice is warm, clear and precise, backed by smooth vocals and light, bright electronica rich in soft strings, lazy piano effects and comfortable bass lines. The instrumentation is lightly spiced with a suggestion of urban, feather-light beats, acoustic guitars, wah electronica and a taste of brass.

Rendezvous is LornaLee's debut album, packaged in glossy three-part gatefold digipack. Perfect for lovers and lovers of couture Parisienne .
