An Inconvenient Truth in June

Former US vice president Al Gore is promoting the new environmental film An Inconvenient Truth a 94-minute documentary, directed by Davis Guggenheim. Gore seeks to convince people of the reality of global warming which is traceable to human activity.

Since losing to George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential elections, Gore has kept busy lecturing around the world on global warming. He is an authority of the topic and speaks with passion and conviction. Gore repeatedly reminds his audience that the hottest 10 years in more than a century have all occurred since 1990.

Gore wonders if people are ignoring the truth because once they acknowledge it, they will be compelled to act. An Inconvenient Truth ultimately brings home Gore's persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as simply a political issue. Visit www.climatecrisis.net/findatheater

First CA State Dept. of Peace Conference In LA June 23–25

In 2001, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced legislation in the House of Representatives that would establish a US Department of Peace, a proposed cabinet-level department with a Secretary of Peace reporting directly to the President. Since then, a national grassroots campaign has grown in support of this legislation.

The First Annual California Conference will allow supporters to come together to learn more about lobbying and nonviolent communication. It will be held from Friday evening June 23 through Sunday noon June 25 at the Courtyard Marriott in Sherman Oaks. Registration is $60, plus $30 for optional barbecue dinner party on Saturday (space for 200). Alternative dinnertime activities will be announced.

Call the hotel at 818-981-5400 for reservations and reference the “Department of Peace Conference” to obtain the group rate.

Featured Speakers are Marianne Williamson, Internationally known author, political visionary and spiritual advisor; Azim Khamisa, CEO of the Tariq Khamisa Foundation, delivering school programs that reduce gang involvement of youth; Lynn McMullen, conference facilitator and National DOP Campaign Coordinator; and Miki Kashtan, Certified Trainer, Nonviolent Communications.

• How to communicate the influence of violence in our culture and inspire others to support this Bill

• Details of this Fall's All-Candidate Forums, to make violence reduction an election issue this year

British Healers Come to Escondido

In Britain, it is not unusual to have healing centers with medical doctors, acupuncturists, healers, reflexologists, chiropractors, aromatherapists etc. in the same building, working together for the good of the patient. A patient can even request the presence of a healer during surgery.

Unfortunately, here in USA, we are a little behind the times in this respect, and many MDs frown upon anything that is outside the boundries of what is perceived as being “normal.”

Roger Ford and Kim Vincent, who moved from Britain to California three years ago, will be Escondido on June 3 to show interested people how they can develop their own healing gift, helping to heal themselves, and to be able to heal others.

Both belong to the National Federation of Spiritual Healers, a non-denominational charitable trust based just outside London, with a membership of over 6,500 healers. It was formed in 1954 and is the largest healing organization in Europe and Roger & Kim are now establishing the organization here in US and are training people from all over America.

The introductory workshop will show how, in a safe and down-to-earth way, that gift can be accessed, and by the end of the afternoon each attendee will be able to give healing to friends, family, and pets.

For further information on the workshop call Roger or Kim at 805 640 0211, or
