Put it in My Backyard, please
Solar: the Ultimate in IMBYism
By Steve Hays
I got a big kick the other day reading a letter-to-the editor in the North County Times that complained about those environmentalists—those not-in-my- backyard environmentalists (NIMBY E's) who won't let “us” build power plants.
In truth, it's the environmentalists who are saying the opposite “in-my-backyard, please.”

Educational Alternatives for the Children of the New Millennium
by Joanie Blaxter
For years now metaphysical circles have been hearing about the “new” children being born with subtly but definitely different auras, physical bodies and DNA patterns. Local author and metaphysical clairvoyant, Nancy Tappe, was the first person to coin the now commonly used phrase “Indigo children” in her book Understanding Your Life through Color. The description was based on her observation that starting about 1980, the majority of babies being born had a predominance of indigo blue in their auric fields. In the chakra system, this color relates to the third eye, which translates on a personality level into the ability to see through lies and distortions, to remember who one truly is and what one truly deserves. Consequently, the legacy of these children is to bring about planetary-wide revolution by replacing our current cultural and governmental systems with new forms that incorporate more freedom and acceptance of individual expression.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Now on DVD
By Deepak Chopra
When ancient peoples considered the vastness of the universe, they felt something very surprising, they felt connected, a spiritual connection cannot be seen or touched, yet we have a way to verify invisible things by using a faculty more powerful and reliable than the five senses—consciousness.
Only if you are aware that something is real can it become real. Awareness tells you that you are alive, that you think and breathe. It tells you if you are happy or sad, and also if you are succeeding in fulfilling your life. Everything that is alive is an example of the elegant expression of nature's intelligence and this intelligence operates through what I call the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. How they operate is a mystery as deep as spirit itself. Achieving success in nature is governed by the same laws that govern all of nature. When we put ourselves in harmony with nature we create a bond between our own desires and the power to make those desires materialize. Anything we want can be created. True success is measured by how efficiently, how effortlessly, you have learned to co-create with the universe. Here is how the Seven laws operate...

Growing Up Chopra
By Mallika Chopra
The first question I am often asked is, “What was it like growing up as Deepak Chopra's daughter?” The reality is that I never really thought my upbringing was so unique”– my father was my father. When we were young, he was a busy doctor who worked hard to provide for our family. My mother was a stay-at-home mom who was ever-present in our lives and who served as the foundation of our nuclear and extended family. As my father started to write books and speak more often, he became more well known. Because we were a close family, we traveled often with him, were able to see much of the world and meet interesting people. My brother ( Gotham ) and I served as the guinea pigs for many of my father's experiments – ranging from memory games to vocabulary lessons, different meditations and mantras. But, my father remained our father throughout – we never really thought about him as the teacher that much of the world did.

Caught up in Revenge Fantasies?
By Penelope Young Andrade
Do you get caught in fantasies of revenge? Most of us have wished we'd lobbed back a snappy insult after being offended and tongue tied. You might've even found yourself temporarily imagining striking back in ways you could never, in good conscience, allow. However, if you continue to indulge thoughts of retaliation long after painful encounters have passed, you may be unwittingly harming yourself . Recurring revenge scenarios offer pretend power, while in actuality you simmer in suffering silence. Your body often pays the price with digestive distress, headaches, insomnia and anxiety.

Evolve the Brain-part 2
The Science of Changing your Mind
An Interview with Joe Dispenza
Can you explain the mind/body connection? What is the relationship between thoughts and the physical body?
An emerging scientific field called psychoneuroimmunology is demonstrating the connection between the mind and the body, and is beginning to help us understand the link between how we think and how we feel. We now know that our every thought produces a biochemical reaction in the brain. The brain then releases chemical signals that are transmitted to the body, where they act as messengers of the thought. In this way, the thoughts that produce these chemicals in the brain allow our body to feel exactly the way we were just thinking .

“Building a culture of Peace" Conference
byJennifer Joe
In May I visited Santa Fe, New Mexico to participate with over 450 people from various parts of the world, representing many sectors (activists, mediators, Spiritual leaders, practitioners, educators, healers, organic farmers, government, NPOs, NGOs, journalists, artists…), ranging from under 15 to over 80 years in age who came together in a working conference for inquiry and strategic thinking on the question: “What would it take to transform the current culture of violence in our societies to a true culture of peace?”

Living Luminaries
A new DVD on the Serious Pursuit of Happiness
A Review by Stephen Simon
Happiness.
Oh, THAT.
Yes, happiness.
That state we all want but so many of us have such a tough time defining.
Or, more challenging yet, that state of being we actually do attain yet fail to recognize as we're experiencing it so we keep searching for it when it has already found us.
Movies have certainly tried to explore this territory before.
