Sicko, Michael Moore's Newest Movie will be Released June 29

Opening in theatres nationwide on June 29, Michael Moore's newest documentary takes on our national health care system. In his usual hard-hitting style, the film demonstrates the personal tragedy of victims who have insufficient insurance coverage. The film opens with an uninsured carpenter with severed digits who must decide if he wants doctors to reattach his ring finger for $12,000 or his middle finger for $60,000. “Sicko's” central thrust is to hold up models of superior government-provided care in France, Canada and Cuba.

“I don't have to convince the American public that there is something wrong with our health care system. I think most American people already feel that way,” said Moore, who enjoys great coverage himself through the Directors Guild of America. “That's why I don't spend a lot of time in the film on the healthcare horror stories. I wanted to propose that there's a different way we can go with this. I'm hoping that the American people, when they see this film, will say, ‘You know, there is a better way, and maybe we should look at what they are doing in some of these other countries'.”

In a recent email, Michael stated that the premiere of “Sicko” at the Cannes Film Festival was an overwhelming success. He related that the Wall Street Journal reported that hardened reporters and critics wept and that the 2,000 people who watched the premiere were alternately in tear and laughing during the two-hour film. After what seemed like a 15 minute standing ovation, Michael was approached by many viewers who said it was his best film yet. Visit www.MichaelMoore.com for more info. Let the healing begin…
