Cookout For Critters Fundraiser on June 7 in Lakeside
Cookout for Critters 2008 will benefit East County animals on Saturday, June 7, 2008, from 11am-3pm, at Joan Embery's Pillsbury Ranch, 13036 Willow Road, Lakeside. Featuring food, fun and entertainment, the annual Cookout For Critters event is a fundraiser for the El Cajon Animal Center for Education and Services (ACES) Foundation, the non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in the City of El Cajon and La Mesa. “It is Great to be Different” Stage Play in Solana Beach 6/19
Project Turnaround and the Pioneers Club present “It is Great to be Different”, a multpart performance fundraiser on Thursday, June 19. Doors open at 6:30pm and the performance begins at 7pm sharp at the St James Community Hall, 625 South Nardo Ave., Solana Beach, CA 92075.
The “It is Great to be Different” production will feature, Greek dancing, singing and a short play titled”“One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes” based on an Old Russian Fable. There will also be a raffle with various interesting and valuable prizes and refreshments will be served. Suggested donation is $8, $7 for seniors and students. Children are welcome at no charge.
The Pioneers are a group of enthusiastic young adults of all ability levels working to overcome their limitations and become contributing members of society. Women's Rights Are Human Rights
Five human rights activists will discuss women's conditions in five countries within Africa, Asia, Latin America and North America at a free event on Tuesday June 17, 7pm at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice on the University of San Diego campus. The program will also feature professional actors performing dramatic readings about war and peace and the effects on human rights.
