What can inspire people to eat better, renew and restore neighborhoods, protect the environment, and bring diverse people together? A community garden! About 1 million people belong to the estimated 18,000 to 20,000 community gardens in the U.S. According to The American Community Gardening Association (ACGA), whether it's urban, suburban, or rural, in either one community plot, or many individual plots, and grows flowers, vegetables, or community; "community gardening improves people's quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education."
