Hallelujah
Songs of Celebration

Hallelujah: a song or shout of joy, praise or thanksgiving. And San Diego favorite Peter Makena certainly sings it out with joy and grace, in the island-flavor style for which he is known. His CDs are remarkable for the tracking overlays that give immense depth to the vocals.

The essence of most of the songs on this CD was born many years ago in Poona, India in an ashram where many people celebrated their connection to God.
“I feel deeply blessed and thankful to have been part of this international and multicultural gathering of kindred souls,” Peter said. “We shared a time and a feeling of tremendous freedom and possibility together that has shaped our lives and who we are today.” He said this album was intended to acknowledge and further the joy and fulfillment of creative and free expression.
Peter‘s music takes us to a place of openness, joy and inner silence. He always draws a good crowd in San Diego. Many of us have loved his two Shamanic Dream albums, among others; I particularly enjoy the one called In Love.

As a DVD, Daylight, Moonlight has always captivated me. Not only is the music gorgeous, the visuals are stunning as well. Kitaro's mastery shines brightly as he conducts while performing magic on the keyboard. And he gracefully allows the other ensemble members to stand out as well, as they so richly deserve.
Filmed live at the temple of Yakushiji in Nara, Japan, this concert was a special event for world peace, appropriately performed at the resting place of the ashes of Genjo Sanzo, the 7th century monk who brought the sacred texts from India that introduced Buddhism into China and Japan.
I don't know that I have ever seen a concert performed in a more inspiring setting. Truly a masterpiece. The CD is wonderful, but the DVD is incredible. Visit the web site for sale prices.
