What's New . . .
International Transpersonal Conf. in Palm Springs 6/13
The Sixteenth International Transpersonal Conference, to be held in Palm Springs June 13–19, celebrates 100 years since the birth of the great mythologist Joseph Campbell. In keeping with Campbell's dream of discovering a new planetary myth, this gathering of spiritual leaders, visionary anthropologists, artists, scientists, healers, authors, and other consciousness explorers is entitled “Mythic Imagination and Modern Society: The Re-Enactment of the World.”
Campbell, the consummate storyteller who elevated myth from primitive tale to the status of window into the psyche, often emphasized that all past civilizations had their own leading myth or myths that, unbeknownst to them, shaped and informed their world views. Stanislav Grof, cofounder of Transpersonal Psychology and founding president of the International Transpersonal Association
(ITA), states: “Now we have reached a level and degree of under- standing when we can become conscious of these deep underlying forces of history and constructively use this knowledge.” Campbell believed it was essential to identify and understand the myth(s) driving modern society. If political, military, economic and ecological trends have escalated to such an extent that we may be facing a global crisis of unprecedented proportions, Grof suggests this may be because diplomatic negotiations, sanctions and military interventions are rooted in the same myth that created the crisis in the first place.
Perhaps we need a new myth. Dr. Jean Houston, who conducted workshops with Campbell , vividly recalls seeing the picture of Earth floating in space for the first time as a symbol of that new myth. She and over 100 presenters and performers come together in this conference to offer their versions of the new myth through creative art, chants, dance, music, meditation and laughter. Correction
We made a couple of errors last month in Mimi Thompson's article “Channeling; A God-Given Miracle.” The first is where Molly is described as a trance channel. The correct term is “transchannel.” Secondly, where St. Germain says, “How may I serve you in this time of your life?” That should have read, “How may I serve you in this time of your time?” We sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings this may have caused.

Venus Transits Sun June 8
By Karen McCoy
Every 3500 years we go through a transition phase that lasts roughly 200 years. During this phase there is normally a struggle for power. This last shift of power was one of the more violent ones, with deliberate attacks on the most healing feminine sacred sites upon the planet being the most brutal. From that time until approximately 200 years ago, the feminine energy has been harshly suppressed.
The modern Sacred Feminine started emerging about the time of the last Venus transit. This transit took place 121.6 years ago, and heralded the beginning of the women's movement; better known as Suffrage, the women themselves were called Suffragettes. These brave women broke the ground for women of today. This year on June 8, 2004 at 01:42 AM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) Venus will once again transit the disk of the Sun. This transit heralds a time on the planet that is referred to as the beginning of the end of times. When Venus makes her next transit (which happens every 121.6 years, then 8 years later), the Mayan calendar will end.
On August 11, 1999 the heavens displayed a grand cross in fixed signs at the time of a solar eclipse. There were two feminine signs in exact opposition to two masculine signs, creating a perfect cross. The masculine and feminine coming together in fixed signs represents deliberate intent to begin balancing the masculine and feminine energies. Then on November 8, 2003 the heavens displayed six planets forming a Star of David at the exact time of a lunar eclipse. The Star of David was created by two perfectly joined triangles, each planet being 60 degrees away from each other. Six planets times 60 degrees equals 360 degrees making a complete circle. One triangle representing feminine, the other masculine, coming together in perfect harmony. This has not taken place since before the last shift of power. This June we have the Venus Transit, and a wonderful opportunity to be able to see our true heart's desires without having to see them filtered through our ego. When we stand on the body of the earth, we look up and see the moon; it is the closest celestial body to us, thereby having the strongest influence. The moon affects our emotions so most of us process everything that happens in our lives through our emotions. Then we see the Sun, which represents our egos. When Venus makes her transits, she crosses the disk of the Sun allowing us to see our true heart's desires without them being filtered through our ego. This gives us an opportunity to make the necessary adjustments that will bring us back on course, providing we choose to live in this world in a conscious way. On a spiritual level Venus represents the Sacred Feminine. On a mundane level she represents how we handle all situations connected to love and money. She is what motivates us to share ourselves with others as well as what motivates us to attain. This offers a phenomenal opportunity for growth. During this transit, visit a sacred site, join a sacred gathering, or take the time to meditate. Reach for that place inside of you that will help you to understand the energy of Venus and how to use this transit to your highest and best good.
Karen McCoy will speak at the Venus Transit Conference, Hawaii , hosted by Sandra Rose Michael (Tel: 808-884-5644). She will be doing ceremony and sharing rituals with like-minded people celebrating the balancing of the masculine and feminine on the planet, and within ourselves. Contact Karen at www.karenmccoy.com
