"THE CELESTINE PROPHECY” TO MAKE SAN DIEGO PREMIERE MAY 12 ON THREE SCREENS
San Diego Premiere Follows Sold-Out Los Angeles Premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater and Record Openings in Cities Throughout U.S.

(May 5, 2006 – Los Angeles, CA) The long-awaited film adaptation of author James Redfield's best-selling novel “The Celestine Prophecy” premieres in San Diego May 12 in three theatres: the AMC Palm Promenade, the AMC Mission Valley and the Pacific Gaslamp. The San Diego premiere comes on the heels of the film's sold-out Hollywood premiere at world-famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where “The Celestine Prophecy” smashed all previous attendance records for the prestigious Hollywood's Master Storytellers film series, which hosted the event. The 1,200-seat Chinese, normally reserved for premieres of Hollywood's biggest films, was packed for the May 2 premiere. James Redfield, who authored the best-selling novel (more than three years on the NY Times Bestseller list; more than 14 million copies sold), co-wrote the screenplay with Barnet Bain and Dan Gordon. “The Celestine Prophecy” is produced by Redfield, Bain, Terry Collis and Beverly Camhe.

The film has already debuted in San Francisco, Seattle, Denver and Phoenix to long lines and sold-out audiences. The theatrical release followed a phenomenally successful sneak preview series that played more than 1,000 screenings across the country. The early success of the film has resulted in tremendous support for the theatrical release among numerous theater circuits, including AMC, Landmark, Harkins and Pacific. The film is being released in the top U.S. markets on a roll-out platform basis and is expected to go into wide release in June.

“The Celestine Prophecy” is James Redfield's best-selling novel come to life on the screen. Ten years in the making, the spiritual adventure film chronicles the discovery of a set of ancient scrolls in the rain forest of Peru, and the efforts of a dedicated group of followers determined to reveal the find to the world, against the concerted efforts of the country's military and Church officials. The scrolls, containing nine key insights, predict a new awakening that redefines human life and provides a glimpse into a completely spiritual culture on earth. The film is currently playing in selected cities throughout the U.S., with a national release planned in June.

The Celestine Prophecy features a star-studded ensemble cast including Matthew Settle (Into the West, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood), Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, 24, Head in the Clouds), Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break, Law & Order SVU), Annabeth Gish (West Wing, Mystic Pizza, The X-Files), Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman, Chicago Hope, Princess Diaries I & II), Joaquim de Almeida (Clear and Present Danger, Behind Enemy Lines, West Wing, 24) and Jurgen Prochnow (The Da Vinci Code, Das Boot, The English Patient).

James Redfield comments on the movie's timely release, “More than ever people are exploring a deeper experience of spirituality. It is our hope that the movie is an adventurous snapshot of a lived spirituality we can all embrace; and that like the book, the movie will take on a life of its own.”

Pursued for years by Hollywood, the Redfields patiently held their vision of creating a movie true to the essence of the book. Trusting synchronicity and relying on intuition, they independently produced the film with Barnet Bain, Terry Collis, and Beverly J. Camhe. Armand Mastroianni directed The Celestine Prophecy from a screenplay by James Redfield & Barnet Bain and Dan Gordon. Shot entirely on location in St. Augustine and Ocala, Florida, and Costa Rica, the film is a production of Celestine Films, LLC and Barnet Bain Films.
