Don't you love harp music? If you do, this is one CD you won't want to miss. The lush landscape of Georgia Kelly's music is a joy to experience. (You may be familiar with this one from an earlier release under the Seventh Wave label.)
This music is transcendental, gentle and powerful at the same time. It positively envelops you with healing energy.
A classically trained harpist, Kelly studied both piano and harp as a child and began composing in her teens. She had given up hope of making it with a music career, though, and when she cut Seapeace, her first album, in 1978, she intended it as her final effort in the musical realm.
“With $2,000 of borrowed money, I recorded, mixed, mastered, and pressed 1,000 copies,” she relates. “Within three months it became an underground hit, and I knew music was meant to be my profession.”
Her music has been featured in documentaries and TV programs and in hospitals and clinics throughout the world. She is also cofounder of Praxis Peace Institute, a nonprofit peace education organization founded in 2001.
“Putting this album together has been a journey through the past eighteen years of my life. The relationships, interests, and feelings I experienced have permeated the music in ways I could not have realized at the time. But as I listen to the pieces sequentially, a story unfolds.”
