Pronoia is the Antidote for Paranoia

By Rob Brezsny; Televisionary Publishing; 2005; 296 pages;

Do you ever worry about this? Have nightmares about how your neighbors are staying up nights thinking up ways to make your life better?

Sounds good to me. Whimsically wonderful, that's what I'd say of this book. From its opening words of celebration in seven sacred… well… languages(?) to its final chapter, Pronoia is laden with evidence supporting its happy thesis, original laugh-provoking suggestions and outlandish ideas.
And the graphics are fun, and abundant. Here, there and everywhere. I'd call it a life-lover's almanac, crossed with a coloring book—an invitation to lighten up and invest yourself in looking forward to every moment in your life!
What could be worse? Just about everything. So treat yourself! Get twisted up in a wild and crazy adventure guaranteed to make you smarter, and who knows? Being creative might end up making you richer, too. And if you look in the mirror one day and don't recognize yourself, could it be because you thought you were ugly?

Do-It-Yourself Space Clearing Kit
Working with Nature to Enhance the Energies of Your Home

The Do-It-Yourself Space Clearing Kit puts energetic feng shui in the hands of the (un)common person. You! If you feel that the layout of your space should be based on direct experience rather than on a contrived system of rules, if you desire to return your home, office or acreage to harmony with the forces of nature, you'll appreciate Christan Hummel's work.
Beginning with a discussion of the benefits of space clearing as practiced in every ancient culture (and residual in ours in the form of “spring cleaning”), the author moves on to explain how the triumph of patriarchy over what were formerly earth-centered cultures has thrown the planet into distress. Explaining how the current re-emergence of the sacred feminine aspect brings an opportunity to reunite with the co-creative natural forces to alleviate geopathic stress, she offers a wide range of simple experiments including prayer, meditation, invoking and communing with Spirit, the use of sound and light, and more to give the reader direct experience of natural energies and opportunities to effect positive change in the energy field.
The spiral-bound cover of the book is inviting, its internal layout pleasing to the eye. In simple language with the aid of clear illustrations, the author brings together personal stories and methods from sources old and new to encourage the (un)common person to take action to restore harmony to his or her own space. I did not have the opportunity to listen to the meditations on the CD.
The term (un)common is mine. It would be common to ignore this book, or to read it and not do the practices. I encourage you to be uncommon—to read it and use its simple, easy suggestions to make a difference here in your little space on earth. If not you and I, who?
