Reaching In

Eastern chants with a contemporary appeal—open the door to sacred pop rock! The magic of Reaching In lies in the mix that connects us with Spirit yet awakens the body first into a gentle sway and then to rocking the night away.

Reaching In includes an amazing rendition of The Lord's Prayer in the original Aramaic. This CD's delicious, unique blend of catchy tunes and haunting melodies sung in Sanskrit, Aramaic and English will mesmerize and enchant and carry you off to whatever dimensions you give yourself permission to visit. You may be able to sit still through the first few songs, but cut number 4—“Amma”—will definitely rock you, and from then on your 3-D mind is history.

Although this is Larisa and Gathering Guru's debut album in the New Age genre, Larisa's hardly unheard of—ten of her compositions were featured on the critically acclaimed Moment by Moment, the first original album for 5.1-Channel Surround Sound, co-created with U2 producer David Tickle and DTS. And she emerged as Singer/Songwriter of the year in the Los Angeles Music Awards. More recently, she and Gathering Guru wowed us at the Whole Being Weekend.

But for those of us in San Diego, probably the best thing about Larisa and Gathering Guru is that we can sometimes catch them live here, and often in Orange County. If you had the good luck to catch their Seaside Church concert October 1st, you were particularly blessed.

Larisa Stow is a unique artist with a passion for making a difference in the world. Inspired by Gandhi's challenge to “be the change you wish to see in the world,” she's doing a fabulous job of embodying that wisdom in her life and music.—Chiwah

Pacific Lounge
Sax & Piano to Chill-Out & Relax with

The combination of tenor sax and piano isn't often featured in new age music, and this innovation alone was enough to draw me to check out Jessie Allen Cooper's new release. So although I didn't find the title particularly appealing, not being a lounge music aficionado, I was curious enough to give it a spin.

Cooper's soft sax must have been born to glide alongside Tim Ponzek's gentle piano playing. The resultant sound is lush, romantic, haunting.

“All of these compositions portray and were inspired by LOVE,” Jessie writes. “From friendship to romance…. The idea behind the title of the CD is that the music is meant to help listeners unwind just like they were walking along a beach somewhere. I like to think of the ocean as a lounge. An ocean is one of nature's best relaxation tools.”

This taste of ocean as lounge is fine musicianship. Perfect for leisurely listening or as a background for massage or healing work.
