Mirabai’s Mission
How does a white woman born in South Africa become an international spiritual teacher, conduit for healing, author and mentor for thousands of people around the world?
“My first experience of awakening happened when I was“around the age of three” says Mirabai Devi.
“ I used to see the masters of Divine Light around my bed. There were 7-12 of them, and they included Krishna, Babaji, Paramahansa Yogananda, Jesus Christ, Mother Mary and Shirdi Baba. I felt they were my family, there to guide and protect me.”
Mirabai recalls being able to move in and out of her body and travel to many dimensions throughout her childhood. She would commune with the Masters of Divine Light, do spiritual work, and receive guidance.
As an adult, she traveled through Europe, the Middle East, the UK, and India. She encountered spiritual teachers and masters of all kinds – Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, you name it.
“Their outer form and dogma weren't what I was interested in. I was in a state of God consciousness and I just wanted to spend time with all kinds of spiritual people, I could see God in them, regardless of their religion.” Mirabai says.
Along the way, she received”awakening and direct transmissions of Divine Light. While on retreat in India, she spent eight weeks in a state of what she calls “Unity Consciousness (In Oneness with the Divine).”
“Almost all I could do was sing, laugh or cry, and I was compelled to share it with everyone I met. I was like a live transmitter of love and ecstasy” she recalls.
Mirabai Devi realized her purpose was to use her gifts to serve, heal and awaken humanity. Since that time, she has been traveling the world giving Darshan (the transmission of the Divine Light) to awaken and assist all who come to her.
What happens when people come to a gathering of yours?
We start with a guided mediation, to shift the vibration, and open the heart. I transmit higher states of consciousness into the room and everyone in it. I give spiritual teachings from the Light which activates the recipients. I often teach a meditation practice, or a mantra practice. Then I offer Darshan (the transmission of the Divine Light) and healing. Healing is my passion.
What is the nature of your healing work?
The purpose of my healing work is to give people a direct experience of the Divine, and to help relieve their suffering. This gives people hope that a higher life is available to them. It also proves that the Light is real. My focus is not only to heal the body but mainly to heal the soul. I am there to assist the soul to return to its inherent divine origin. Although the body gets healed in the process, so that people will want the Light.
What happens during Darshan?
I go into a state of samadhi, or deep divine absorption. I have learned to do this instantly, and at will. I only do this in order to heal and help others, as an act of devotion and service to the Beloved Light. Then I am used to transmit this state to another, through touch, and/or words. It's like one candle lighting another candle. The person receiving Darshan receives an experience of their highest potentiality in that moment. When someone opens and receives that gift, they can remember what it feels like. Not only that, they can find their way back to that state of consciousness, with spiritual practices, help from a teacher, or prayers and devotion. It's a universal gift, available to anyone regardless of beliefs, and does not bind you to Mirabai Devi in any way.
How do you feel about the traditional guru/disciple relationship?
That tradition still has a place, but in a modern time it needs to be adapted. I prefer to see myself as servant of humanity, the best friend of the soul. I'm there to support and bring out the highest in them.
What is your assessment of the state of human consciousness in the world today?
Clearly, we're shifting into a new paradigm. There is a quantum shift taking place. More and more people are waking up, and a revolution in consciousness is happening all over the world. I believe it's due in large part to the hard work of divine masters of light on the other side, and the saints on earth working with devotion and earnestness. There are many others here as well, who are working to shift and hold the divine frequencies, and make that available on a large scale. We're all interconnected, doing it together, regardless of the organization or group.
What is Abundance?
Abundance is the realization that the entire universe is our divine birthright, and that we are the Cosmic Self, and that everything, everywhere, everyone, is our Self, and is made of this Divine Love. If we can connect to this knowledge and live in the vibration of Divine Love, then we live in the vibration of Divine supply, and everything is taken care of all the time, because Love IS, and we are an aspect of That. The more we believe that we deserve, that we are connected, that we have every need taken care of by the Divine, and the more we develop trust and faith, then the more we experience abundance.
What would you say to someone who comes to you and says “I'm working too hard for too little money, I hate my job, I'm in debt up to my eyeballs, I have a family that depends on me, my creativity is dried up, and I feel trapped. What can I do?”
I would give Darshan (transmission of the Divine Light) or healing immediately, then I would give them a spiritual practice, including meditation and a specific mantra to help their condition. Reciting the mantra daily would help them break up the old accumulated patterns of thought, habit and belief. Their fears would be calmed, and they would stop attracting lack and limitation. They would start to open to more Light, and they would feel their creativity returning, and attract more abundance. They might attract a new job, creative ideas to make more money, and so on. The spiritual practices I teach are great at breaking up stagnant patterns, changing their thoughts, and connecting them to Divine Light.
If someone had a specific health challenge for example migraines, cancer, arthritis, chronic fatigue, depression or any ailment, I would look to see what the cause is so they can make the appropriate changes in their lives. I would help them gain clarity and understanding of what the lesson are that the illness has come to teach them. Then we would apply a very direct instantaneous form of healing to bring the system back into balance.
