Films in Focus
Fast Food Nation : Fox Searchlight's Fast Food Nation will be in theaters November 17! This film is the boldly fictionalized adaptation of Eric Schlosser's nonfiction best-seller Fast Food Nation. This film is an episodic ensemble piece involving a number of characters whose lives are affected by the mega-business of fast food production — from Greg Kinnear's corporate marketing executive (at “Mickey's Fast Food”) to the illegal Mexican immigrants played by Catalina Sandino Moreno and Ana Claudia Talancon. Linklater's movie ends with some potently graphic sequences shot on the killing floor of a Mexican slaughterhouse.
An Inconvenient Truth : Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the DVD An Inconvenient Truth on November 21. From Director Davis Guggenheim comes the Sundance film Festival hit, which offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of “defeat” in the 2000 election, reset the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to save the planet from irrevocable change. With wit, smarts and hope, An Inconvenient Truth ultimately brings home Gore's persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue. It is the biggest moral challenge facing our global civilization.
Roger Ebert wrote: “In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film.”
Paramount Classics has committed 5% of the domestic theatrical gross for An Inconvenient Truth to be donated to a new bipartisan climate effort, Alliance for Climate Protection!
