Sun Signs For November 2007

Scorpio takes us deep into healing and life-transformation
We embarked on a journey of life-transformation as the sun entered Scorpio on October 23, taking us deeply into a month-long process of healing and self-exploration. The only sign with three symbols, the scorpion, eagle and phoenix, Scorpio represents the three-fold process of awakening to higher states of consciousness; the first being a confrontation with the “shadow” side of our nature, the second, or “eagle” phase, being the leap of faith necessary to abandon old ways of being, and discover new horizons, and the third being the “phoenix'” stage where we have risen from our own ashes (a particularly poignant symbol for those living in Southern California), and we soar into higher consciousness unencumbered by the demands of the lower self. Attained often through the rigors of life-challenges, loss, and pain, we reach attunement to the Higher Self, the goal of Scorpio.
Communication flows with greater ease and success
The month of November begins with the planet of communication, Mercury, returning to direct motion after being retrograde (apparent backwards motion) since October 11. Mercury serves to keep us linked together, much like the connective tissue in our physical bodies. On November 1, Mercury resumes forward motion in Libra, and we begin to pick up threads of communication, relationships, and ideas that have been on the back burner for the past few weeks. Having originally turned retrograde in Scorpio, the lesson involves understanding what needs to be changed in our way of thinking and verbal communication. As Mercury picks up speed by mid-November, our plans and projects are once again progressing forward.
Neptune in Aquarius sparks humanitarian ideals with the new moon
The large and somewhat mysterious planet Neptune also resumes direct motion on November 1. Retrograde in Aquarius, the sign of the humanitarian, since late May, Neptune has inspired a long review of our hopes for the future, our ideals, and our religious or spiritual beliefs. As Neptune takes the month of November to slowly resume forward momentum, many of us will experience a resurgence of humanitarian idealism. On a personal level, the new moon in Scorpio on November 9 forms a tense aspect to Neptune, suggesting some deep soul-searching for the latter part of the sun-in-Scorpio transit. We desire greater understanding of the larger forces at play in our lives, and we may be once again asking the question:
“What meaning does my life have, and what is my purpose?”. The gift of the Neptune transit is as follows: Once we surrender the will of our personal, ego-driven lower self to the wisdom and love of our higher, Spirit-realized self, we have our individual purpose working in harmony with the divine perfection inherent in our universe, and the result is peace.
Mars Retrograde brings review of our activities and ventures
On November 15, the planet that stimulates us to action, Mars, turns retrograde in the sign of Cancer. To know how this will affect our lives, it is helpful to understand the function that Mars symbolizes. At its' basic, most primal level, Mars is the human imperative to survive. It drives us to seek food and shelter, and it drives us to reproduce in order to ensure the survival of our species. As such, Mars describes the work we do, the money we make, and our sexual activity. Mars in Cancer bestows a strong urge to support and protect home and family, as well as our tendency to fight for what we perceive is “ours”. Retrograde from mid-November until January 29, 2008, Mars stimulates a review of the forces motivating us in our choices of how we make a living. On a personal level, we could decide to make a career change that would improve our lives, or the lives of our family members. We might review our investments, especially real estate investments, and make choices or complete projects to enhance or protect our investments. If we own a business, we would use the retrograde Mars well to review all aspects of our business and make improvements where needed.
Sun enters Sagittarius and the full moon brings new direction
While the sun is in Scorpio, we are challenged to become aware of aspects of our own nature, our subconscious, or “shadow side” that are ready for healing and transformation. Often this happens through reflections we get from our most personal relationships, or feedback from the world. Once recognized, we can then choose to clear, heal, and transform these aspects of ourselves, freeing us to seek higher and higher consciousness and expression in the world. The sun completes its journey through transformational Scorpio, entering the more jovial and playful sign of Sagittarius on November 22. Two days later, the planet representing changes and awakening to higher states of consciousness, Uranus, returns to direct motion in Pisces, propelling us toward the end of 2007 with a sense that everything in our world is undergoing profound change.
Also on November 24, we have a full moon in Gemini, opposite the sun in Sagittarius. The full moon brings energy and intentions to expression and fruition, giving us an opportunity to experience the results of the proceeding four week's deep work and soul searching. Interacting with the nodal axis of the moon, the late November full moon provides a “checkpoint” for where we are in our soul's journey through life. If you live in North America, it may be fruitful over the Thanksgiving holiday to spend some time in reflection on your soul-purpose.
