Habitat for Humanity Plans ‘Operation
Home Delivery’ for Hurricane Victims

Habitat for Humanity International is launching “Operation Home Delivery,” a three-phase response to help provide assistance and rebuilding opportunities in New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

“First responders are providing immediate aid right now, but, soon, efforts will be moving toward helping people rebuild their lives and their homes,” said Jonathan Reckford, Habitat's chief executive officer. “We are working now to make sure we have this plan in place when conditions are at a point that rebuilding can get under way.”

Organic Garden Patch

The weather is going to begin cooling (except for the occasional “ Santa Ana ” condition). With the shorter, and generally cooler days, the garden can expand tremendously. The summer varieties will continue producing, but it is time to think about Fall greens. Fall is the most gentle and wonderful time of the year in Southern California . A cooling trend arrives at a slow and steady pace.

Pilgrimage of the Family of Abraham - Theme of AGNT

Wearing turbans, robes, veils, long sidelocks, black coats and prayer fringes, the Abrahamic Reunion caused a stir as soon as they arrived at the airport here this weekend. These twelve Palestinian and Israeli religious and spiritual leaders—men and women, Muslims and Jews, Christians and Druze—traveled for the purpose of forming an organization to promote spiritual peacemaking. Their goal is to work toward peace in the Holy Land. They chose to meet in Istanbul because of its historic significance as a haven for these religions.

The Walk of Abraham

The purpose of the Abraham Path Initiative is to open up a route in the Middle East retracing the footsteps of the prophet Abraham. Such a route, roughly analogous to the Camino de Compostela in Spain , the journey from Mecca to Medina in Saudi Arabia , or the Lewis and Clark Trail in the United States , is intended to draw travelers from all parts of the world. As the father of monotheism and the spiritual forefather of Jews, Christians, and Muslims, Abraham is the unifying point for over three billion people who consider themselves part of the family of Abraham.

AGNT Annual Conference at La Quinta Resort & Spa Oct. 3–7

The Association for Global New Thought Awakened World Conference 2005 takes place during a rare and auspicious time for the world’s spiritual traditions. There is much we can do to facilitate healing during these days we spend together. A confluence of sacred moments in many different traditions occurs during October of this year. Two strands of time are woven together this fall in a way not seen for decades: The sacred Muslim lunar month of Ramadan and the sacred Jewish lunar month of Tishrei, which includes the High Holy Days and Sukkot, both begin October 3-4. October 4 is the Saint’s Day of St. Francis of Assisi; October 2 is Gandhi’s birthday, and is also Worldwide (Protestant) Communion Sunday. In mid-October, there are important Buddhist and Hindu festivals.

Are You Prepared for Disaster?

Are you prepared for disaster? When catastrophe strikes far away and the media bring us images of death and destruction we are flooded with feelings: helplessness, compassion, and an urge to do something, anything. If the catastrophe was predictable and/or compounded by human error and incompetence, we may feel compelled to call for large-scale inquiry to improve response systems. At a more subtle level, a distant disaster gives us a unique opportunity to look at our own preparedness.
