October 2006 CD

    The Sound of Peace

The Sound of Peace

“I love to play the piano at night,” the artist writes, “and even in my earliest years, my mother always said that I play better after 6 pm.”

Each piece on The Sound of Peace was composed at night, when the rest of the world had calmed down.

This is soothing music, and yet it's interesting . Some of the fourteen instrumentals follow a definite melody, but in others you never quite know where the music is going next—a big plus in my book, for it hooks the imagination as it stills the mind.

John is also a vocalist, and plans to feature that aspect of his talent on future albums. He has worked as accompanist for numerous artists. As Gladys Knight's music director he penned several songs for her musical Madame Lilly , played for her on several TV shows and with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Utah, and contributed to two of her CDs. He performed at the televised 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Concert with a full symphony orchestra.

It was Lee in our office who brought this CD to my attention, and I love it. —Chiwah
