What's New . . .

Changes . . . at The Light Connection

If you've called The Light Connection recently, you may have been greeted by a new and enthusiastic voice. We have a new marketing manager. Mikki Royce comes to San Diego by way of Santa Monica , California , and now lives in the Hillcrest area. Originally, however, Mikki hails from the deep south—very deep south— Buenos Aires , Argentina , in fact.

Since 1984 Mikki has been a practicing Buddhist. Conversant with the universal law of cause and effect, she feels it's no accident that she is at The Light Connection. Definitely a cultural creative, Mikki is a graduate of the University of Miami Film School and has acquired extensive experience in a wide variety of areas relating to marketing, promotion and events, including positions as editor of the National Health Federation's magazine, Health Freedom News, co-producer of Life Extension Expo, and writer/producer of on-air promos for CBS Network television. Dubbed the Media Goddess by her clients, Mikki had her own public relations consultancy for many years.

Please feel free to call her for any of your advertising needs.

National Distribution for What The Bleep

Even pouring rain won't keep away or dampen the enthusiasm of theatergoers eager to see the new movie, What the Bleep do We Know? In Denver recently, on a very wet Monday night, both of the theaters showing the film were full! Defying all predictions, this inspiring film is having amazing success everywhere it opens. Thus far a fair share of the publicity has been in the form of enthusiastic word-of-mouth praise, but it is now beginning to move into mainstream venues, as evidenced by a recent write-up in Time Magazine by the science editor.

“The best news, however,” says John Raatz of Visioneering Group publicity, “is that the Samuel Goldwyn organization has signed up the film for national distribution. It will be opening nationally in September and October in 100 cities across the country.” In San Diego County, tickets are now on sale at the Theater in Horton Plaza, San Diego as well as the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas.

One interesting phenomenon is the fact that many people, having seen it once, have gone back again. Raatz said they have received many emails from people who had seen it 3, 4 and 5 times. “The winner so far,” he says, “is a fellow who wrote us that he had seen the movie 31 times in three weeks! That's more than once a day!!” If you want to be challenged, this film will not only engage your emotions, it will also inspire you and make you think. It demands freedom of view and greatness of thought.

Rev. Margaret Wright, July 24 1944- July 29, 2004

Margaret Wright, 60, a native of San Diego , died July 29 at her La Jolla home in the presence of her loving family.

Margaret attended high school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in El Cajon. After graduating from San Diego State University, she became a Certified Public Accountant. Margaret was instrumental in setting up the successful growth of Money & You and the Excellerated Leaning Institute from 1985-1994 which supported D.C. Cordova in expanding her business worldwide. In 1977 she founded the Wright and Geis C.P.A. firm. Margaret expanded her value to her clients by becoming a business coach. With a personal touch, she supported them to set and reach their goals.

This dynamic woman further committed herself to service by becoming a minister within Religious Science International in 1997. She administered the La Jolla Church of Religious Science and, until the time of her death, was staff minister for the Celebration Church of Religious Science in Del Mar. Within her ministry Margaret created a class entitled “Building the Life of Your Dreams” in which she taught hundreds how to apply the principles of Religious Science to all areas of their lives.

Margaret's parents were Vincent and Margaret Mullen of La Mesa. She is survived by her husband Floyd Geis of La Jolla, her sister Mary Helen Ish and her brother-in-law Dave Ish of La Jolla and her mother-in-law Iris Geis of San Diego. A celebration of Margaret's life was held August 15 in Del Mar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to San Diego Hospice, Pro Kids Golf Academy or the San Diego Rose Society.
